Project Overview

 

In 2022, I had the opportunity to serve as an Assistant Editor on Season 3 of The Show About the Show, an innovative series by Caveh Zahedi. The series uniquely explores Caveh's life by making each episode about the production of the previous one, offering a recursive and introspective look into the filmmaking process.

 

Challenges and Solutions

 

 One of the main challenges I faced was adapting to Final Cut Pro, a new editing software for me. The learning curve was steep, particularly because of the complex narrative layers that are a hallmark of the show. Through dedicated practice and guidance from Caveh, I was able to master the software, which enabled me to contribute effectively to the editing process.

 

Additionally, recognizing the potential of emerging social platforms, I suggested that Caveh expand the show's presence to TikTok. After implementing this strategy post my tenure, the show gained significant traction, attracting a substantial new audience and enhancing viewer engagement.

 

Contributions and Impact

 

My hands-on experience extended beyond technical editing. I was involved in editorial decisions, where Caveh valued my input to enhance narrative clarity and emotional impact. My involvement ranged from editing complete episodes of Season 3 to managing logistical tasks like maintenance of production equipment. These experiences not only honed my technical skills but also enriched my capability to manage multifaceted aspects of a production setting.

 

Personal Growth

 

Working closely with Caveh Zahedi provided me with a rare insight into a creative process that is both deeply personal and provocatively honest. This mentorship helped me find advocacy in my ideas, encouraging me to recommend new strategies and provide artistic advice. The open collaborative environment fostered by Caveh significantly boosted my confidence and sharpened my editorial judgment.
